A Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) student drowned while swimming in the campus pool early this morning.
The body of Mohd Hafifi Hazwan Mohd Adnan, 20, was found at about 3am and sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, for post mortem.
Gombak OCPD ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah said Mohd Hafifi, a first year student in UIAM, had gone to the swimming pool with four other friends after playing futsal.
“As per our information, Mohd Hafifi and four of his friends had encroached into the swimming pool area after playing futsal. However, Mohd Hafifi, purportedly not a good swimmer, later drowned in the pool,” Abdul Rahim told Bernama when contacted today. – Bernama
Innalillahi wa iniilaihirajiun
I know Allahyarham personally and even played badminton with him 2 weeks earlier. He looked pretty much more matured and serious compared when I first met him in IIUM matriculation. He is my junior and taking engineering. This may seem as shock to a lot of us and even to me myself. Just make you wonder when is our turn? Prepare for our death from now on and become a better Muslim.
Please recite Al-Fatihah and pray that our bro Hafifi is placed among those of Muttaqin. He is extremenly lucky from a point of view to pass away in the month of Ramadhan. There are many blessing for those leaving this world in the barakah of the fasting month.
Only Allah knows best.
Wallahualam Bi sowab.

Emm.. which helmet are you wearing? Hopefully not the third one
Its been a busy week especially for the IIUM Security Team. Since the rule that “Every motorcyclist must wear a helmet” was enforced on the 3rd of August, many security stands were formed especially at the main roads.
Its mainly enforced during the morning and evening. Nights are given a bit of a loose with some good reasons. As a student do you think its necessary? As the rule was mainly created due the increasing accidents where IIUM motocyclists got involved I personally think it is be a good thing.
Now the next thing is to get all the security team to enforce an “Aurah Awareness” campaign. I am seeing more and more brothers wearing “short” shorts. Not the longer shorts which covers the male aurah. Also the number of female students wearing tight jeans is increasing in an alarming rate. Or is it just me? What do you think?
Anyway as a Muslim and studying in an Islamic university this is certainly a serious issue that needs to be taken very seriously. (Notice the double serious word usage.)
Regards, have a nice weekend.

It has been some time since I posted here. Simply to say IIUM last week is a sick week.
The IIUM health center aka IIUM clinic is filled with sick patients and during an event there is always someone coughing or have these weary sort of eyes.
There are even rumors that we have some cases but the university decided to not make it public. In a nutshell a pretty bad week for IIUM. It could be due to the weather or maybe the side effects of the pandemic virus Influenza H1N1.
This post is made not to announce that IIUM is going to go on a break like the majority of public universities but as a reminder that we may well be going to have a break. Lol.. I am pretty sure that the students especially will be very “sad” to have a vacation early in this 1st semester so I decided to make a poll.
Vote on what you think and speak up.
Have a nice day
